JM PAQUETTE:

“Only a word?” he recited. “Why not couple it with something? Make it a word and a blow!” At this, Christian stood up, brandishing his sword at Bryan, who was supposed to leap back in a display of cat-like ability. Bryan was playing Tybalt, after all, prince of cats, and he needed to show that he deserved the title. The audience would need to see it.

Of course, Bryan’s reflexes were more dog-like than feline at the moment, and he stepped back awkwardly, knocking over the table where Christian had been resting his feet, lounging as his character Mercutio was supposed to do until he jumped up and Romeo arrived and the real fight started.

The table fell with a crash, a few drinks spilling…

All Downhill From Here by Erika Lance

Stories My Friends Started

For Crystal, I truly do hope you enjoy this.

All they could see was the open ocean and fluffy clouds of cotton candy🍭

Marcie looked around and it appeared that she was on this beach with ten other people.

She did not know any of them.

She looked into the sky again and the clouds in fact were swirled with pink and an almost unnatural blue.

There was coughing coming from one of the other people. He was an older gentleman, looked like he was in his early sixties. He was on his hands an knees and his entire body spasming.

As she tries to stand a wave of dizziness hits her and she feels herself land back on the sand.

When her vision cleared she realized there was a marking on her forearm. It said: 17GHT433GFS. What the hell is going on? she thought.

She looked over at…

NICOLE DRAGONBECK:

“What is this thing?” Trina grumbled as the mounds of fluffy white entrapments were pulled over her head and down to her waist.

“They call it a petticoat. It goes over the knickers and under the skirt,” Berra said as she thrust a pink monstrosity with too much lace at Trina.

Trina took it and held it out as far as she could, as if she could avoid the humiliation if she didn’t let it touch her. She preferred chain mail and leather. What had her life come to?

“Why are we doing this?” she asked in a petulant voice as Berra found a pair of soft slippers, and something that looked like a tadpole, with a curved tail.

“Do the math,” Berra replied, her voice…

ERIKA LANCE:

Shanty sat up and yawned wiping the sleep from his eyes he heard it more clearly “….. cheat…. die….. friends”. Was this a female? Shanty grabbed his tunic and slid it over his head and then attached his peg-leg with a practiced move and started to head up the stairs from the sleeping area.

More screaming, curses and then something large slammed into the ship which caused it to lurch and tip. He almost lost his footing and went tumbling. What in the hell was going on he thought.

As he opened the hatch leading to the main deck he was almost struck in the head by some kind of flying debris. When his eyes adjusted to the starlight he realized the situation was way worse.

New Release!

Hello All,

I am super excited about the newest release of short stories Serenity Rising from the Ink Slingers Guild!

This is the 5th anniversary of the Ink Slinger’s Guild anthologies. I am so proud and happy to be part of this amazing group.

Here is the teaser for mine:

•Brynn has seen crazy. She is a nurse in the psych ward so crazy makes up most of her day. Then she meets Jacob, a patient who sees “monsters”. What happens when what she thought as only delusion prove to be real?

You can purchase this bit of epicness here!

Here is a taste of what is in store:

The collections of short stories by the Ink Slingers Guild (ISG) are based on a writing exercise done at every ISG meeting. The exercise must include the chosen words. The words that were chosen this year were: • Apothecary • Satin • Succulent

•Maggie Baker can’t think of anyone to ask to wear her corsage at this year’s First Days Celebration. After a visit from her fairy godmother, Maggie concocts her own Prince Charming, but when Charle arrives, things get more complicated than she bargained for.

•In a high stakes poker game, four players gamble with more than just money.

•After a childhood of coping with a drug addict parent and traveling with gypsies, Annika’s life has finally calmed down a little now that she’s operating her aunt’s fortune teller shop in absentia… when in walks Fenn, a tall dark and handsome piece of her past, to mess everything up and pour a little more magic onto the fire.

•Grayson Forsythe thought he had left his past behind, but unforeseen events force him to return home and assume the family title and responsibilities he never sought. Unexpectedly, reunited with a woman from his childhood, can she awaken his heart and help him claim a future he never knew he wanted?

•A monster loses a friend but finds love.

•An exciting adventure at sea turns dark when a storm veers Sarah and Molly off course without a sail or drinking water. Will they find aid on a lost island?

•Tasha is a celebrity. She has 11 potential mates when normally you only have 2-5. Christian has 10 and both have reality TV shows detailing every detail of their lives. Can they find “the one” before they are left with the Last Man on Earth?

•In the middle of the night Rachel Davenport is about to find out the things that you can see are not the things you should be afraid of.

•Brynn has seen crazy. She is a nurse in the psych ward so crazy makes up most of her day. Then she meets Jacob, a patient who sees “monsters”. What happens when what she thought as only delusion prove to be real?

Each story is an adventure, sit back and enjoy as the Ink Slingers Guild take you to the Serenity Rising.
